"the beauty lies in the small"

Together with my colleague and friend Mikael Syvävärvi I operate a photographical project that works with microscope photography. The images shown under this title depict surfaces of crystals. Special technologies in optical microscopy allow to generate colorful images which show a large amount of details on the surfaces created during growth. The colors in these images are not artifically added in postproduction but they can be enhanced. Typical fields of view for these images are far below one millimeter.

One of my images was in 2011 selected within the 100 best microscope photographs by the Nikon Small World Contest. You can also just have a look at my portfolio of microscope photos.
